Project Hero was Land Rover's programme to develop a Discovery for Red Cross emergency response teams. The vehicle combined a mobile command centre with drone technology to support disaster response. I designed its vinyl graphics in 2017 for the vehicle launched in 2018.
I directed the graphics and produced all artwork in line with Red Cross brand guidelines. The work applied an existing identity across the Discovery's bodywork, bringing the Austrian Red Cross emblems together with red diagonal striping and yellow visibility panels.
The vehicle layouts show the scheme from the side, front, rear and above. A band of red and yellow follows the body below the windows, continuing around the rear. The emblems sit separately on the doors, bonnet and rear glazing. These views established the relationship between the graphics and the vehicle's panels before application.
I also liaised with suppliers for fitting and application. My role covered graphic direction, artwork production and coordination with the people applying the vinyl. The finished graphics appear on the emergency response vehicle that entered service with the Austrian Red Cross in 2018.
