The Montessori Conference was the flagship centenary celebration of Montessori training in the United Kingdom (1919–2019), held at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster.
The project brought together four independent educational institutions—Montessori Centre International, Maria Montessori Institute, Bournemouth Montessori Centre, and the Montessori Partnership—under a single banner for the first time. The challenge was to create a contemporary identity that acknowledged 100 years of educational history while presenting Montessori as a forward-looking pedagogical standard to government stakeholders, nursery leaders, and international delegates.
I designed a neutral identity system that stood separate from the individual branding of the four founding institutions. The visual language uses geometric letterforms and a vibrant secondary palette (Royal Purple, Jade Green, Aqua, and Slate) referencing the tactile learning materials central to the Montessori method.
The spatial application required clear wayfinding across the multi-level QEII Centre. I developed a suite of 150 × 400 cm exterior architectural banners to establish an authoritative street-level presence directly opposite the Houses of Parliament. For the main auditorium, I created the digital stage environment for the Churchill Room, including 16:9 keynote video walls, dynamic lectern graphics, and speaker holding slides designed for high contrast under broadcast lighting.
The digital system centred on a responsive ticketing microsite and mobile schedule. The interface prioritised friction-free delegate registration, speaker profiling, and agenda filtering across concurrent breakout streams.
