Special Vehicle Operations is Jaguar Land Rover’s division for the highest-performance, most exclusive vehicles. I designed the badge system across multiple sub-brands over four years: SVR, SVX, SVA Autobiography, and Bespoke By SVO.
Vehicle badges are manufactured objects with zero tolerance for ambiguity. A file that reads well on screen can fail in die-casting or paint-fill at 40mm. I drew these marks for physical production: specific scales, specific materials, specific manufacturing methods. Curves, counters, and weight relationships all answer to the die, not the screen.
The Bespoke By SVO identity went through eleven development rounds. I revised the mark in response to manufacturing feedback and brand positioning shifts as the programme defined itself. The start/stop button graphic and keyring applications extended the system beyond the vehicle body into the ownership experience.
The badge family works as a hierarchy. SVO sits at the top as the parent mark. SVR, SVX, and SVA each carry enough of the parent’s DNA to read as siblings while distinguishing their performance character. Autobiography operates at a different register: heritage and exclusivity rather than track performance.
